Autumn Days. Part 2.

Here are some pictures from Ruby's first Halloween. We all had lots of fun dressing up and I'm already looking forward to next year as she will be old enough to go trick-or-treating. We dressed her up as a little pink kitty and it fit her personality so well!

Ruby is about 8 1/2 months old, and she is busy crawling around all over the house and exploring everything she can get her hands on. She can now pull herself up to standing, clap her hands together and wave bye-bye! She's been keeping me very busy at home but it's been fun all the same. She loves to look at her books and enjoys turning the pages as we read together. She seems to favor books with pictures of babies, dogs or cats. Sometimes she even grunts if I don't turn the page fast enough!

Autumn Days. Part 1.

Autumn, my absolute favorite season. What is better than crisp fall afternoons and pumkin pie?To start the season off right, we took Ruby to her very first pumkin patch last weekend. She had fun picking out her very own little pumpkin.

Ruby has developed so much in the last month I don't know where to begin. Little Ruby is such a pleasure to be around and I am so fortunate to get to stay home with her and watch her grow. She has figured out how to crawl around and is so happy to be able to move about. She has mastered the ability to bang two objects together and is quite pleased with herself while doing so. Just recently she has started clapping her hands together too. Also she has fallen in love with Daisy our kitty, so much I decided to get her a little kitty costume for Halloween. I've also been taking her to storytime at the library and she loves singing songs, looking at books and playing with the other babies. Overall she is such a happy baby and loves living life!

Aside from raising our little one, Matt and I have been busy with a multitude of endeavors. Matt is working on a Master's degree in Music and is an active member in a guitar trio at school. I have been working farmer's markets on the weekend trying to get my business up and running selling handmade crafts. In order for me to stay at home with Ruby I need to find ways to make money, so I hope this takes off!

Little Miss Ruby Mae

Just wanted to update the blog with some more recent photos of Little Miss Ruby. We take so many photos of her it is difficult to decide which ones to post. Here are just a few.

She will be seven months in just a few days and is growing big and strong. She has moved onto the "baby babbling" stage of language development and is now saying "mama, ba-ba, na-na, ra-ra and ga-ga". But no "dada" yet, much to Matt's dissapointment :)

Ruby is becoming more mobile all the time and is desperately learning to get into sitting position by herself and scoot around the house the explore. She is gaining confidence in feeding herself and sometimes insists that she do it by herself. And it has been more difficult to breastfeed her at this point because she wants to explore the world around her rather than eat, which is pretty typical.

The weather has been so perfect here this summer we have spent most of our time outdoors. Ruby absolutely loves going on walks to the park and watching kids play.

I am looking forward to Harvest season so we can take Ruby to her first pumpkin patch and corn maze.

Family Portraits

Now that Ruby is 5 1/2 months old, we decided it was time to get our first family photo. She has been so much fun at this age and we really wanted to capture her happy, silly, cute, lovable essence.

At nearly a half year old, she is striving to become more independent, sitting up on her own and trying to explore everything in sight. Her desire to investigate the world around her has become so great we can hardly keep up with her and she is constantly surprising us everyday.

We've also been getting in some good family time this summer. Now that we have access to a pool at our apartments it's been nice getting everyone together for a swim. Ruby has had fun getting to know her cousins, Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents.

For us, we have finally adapted to parenthood and our affection for her has grown so great we wonder how one little baby could bring so much love and happiness into our lives.

Here are some more photos from our trip to the Oregon Coast. The family photo is one of my favorites because my family rarely has the opportunity to all be together. On another note, Ruby is my neice's very first cousin and it was also her very first time holding a baby!

June 2010

June has been a very busy month for us, it seems like one thing is happening after another. We celebrated our graduation from college with a trip to the Oregon Coast with my family. We had a very nice visit and spent some much-needed time at the beach. Ruby did really well the whole trip and had a lot of fun with her cousins.

In addition, Ruby has began to giggle, and I have to admit, it is the cutest thing I have ever heard. She is also smiling at just about anyone and is producing all sorts of squeals, shrieks and coo's. Ruby absolutely loves when we sing to her, which doesn't surprise me, as she comes from a long line of great and talented musicians.

Lastly, on June 10th, we lost our dear cockatiel Toby, who was more of a family member rather than a pet. Toby had been sick for some time, and was never able to recover, so we thought it was best to put him to rest rather than to spend his last days suffering. We love and miss you so much Toby!

Ruby Mae

Thought I'd get this blog started for those of you who don't have a facebook account and want to view pictures of the newest member of the Solomon family, Ruby Mae.

Our sweet little girl is just about 4 months old and her personality is definitely starting to make an appearance. Everyday I am surprised by changes I see in her, from her discovering new things she can do with her body and by her ever-growing "vocabulary". Her favorite activities include singing with her mama, talking to the cute baby in the mirror, and sucking on her fingers.

This little bug still isn't sleeping all that well and is constantly keeping her parents on their toes, but we love and adore her all the same despite our sleep deprivation. She is however, much more content throughout the day and enjoys being a part of our lives as much as we love being a part of hers.

In two weeks we are headed to Depoe Bay for our first family vacation to celebrate our graduation from PSU. I have some family visiting from out of town and I look forward to them meeting Ruby. I'm sure it will be a challenge but I look forward to sharing with Ruby the beauty of the Oregon Coast.
